Flying High Above Manhattan in Patrick and Anna Leonard's Cirrus SR22 Airplane

Anna flew Patrick down with a box of "It All Comes Down to Mood" to sell at Capital Audio Fest

I needed a box of It All Comes Down to Mood—Patrick Leonard's new double LP—to sell at the Capital Audio Festival, which starts this Friday November 8th. I asked Patrick to UPS down a box but he said he and his pilot wife Anna would instead fly them down in their plane and take me for a tour of Manhattan.

They arrived this Sunday morning well before the New York City Marathon would close off some airspace. I put the records in my car and off we went in the Cirrus SR22. I'd never been up in a small plane and it was a total blast as you'll see in this video. The Cirrus SR22 has a built in parachute so if there's any engine or other mechanical issues you can deploy the chute to safely bring you back down the earth.

It was a breathtaking view of the Hudson River, lower Manhattan and all the space in between. About halfway through the video, the song "Up in the Sky" from the album replaces the engine noise. The song is really about Patrick and Anna up in the air but why not use it here. We were all up in the air!

The records will be on sale in the robyattaudio room at a special show price. I'll be playing the record at the show as I did in Warsaw last weekend. Everyone loved what they heard but there were none there to buy. Here there will be. Robin Wyatt will be playing a pair of new Quads so check it out!

One of the songs on the album, "Up in the Sky", seemed an appropriate soundtrack even though it's set in the Upper Michigan peninsula and not Manhattan. It starts about half way through the video, which is otherwise the rumble of the Cirrus SR22's engine.

The song that immediately popped into my head was "Manhattan From The Sky" by Kate Voegele. Excellent tune! Great artist too...

Caldwell! That's where JFK Jr.'s final flight originated from. Nice video!

Mr. Fremer, I was already in the middle of enjoying an excellent cold brew Gyokuro tea before your flight video. You took my morning higher!

    Thank you, Patrick & Anna.
