Eagles Announce "Career Spanning" 3CD, 6LP Set— 51 Studio and Live Recordings

To the Limit: The Essential Collection

Before posting the press release, I asked Warner Music Group folks about the sources and how this set was produced. Obviously a compilation like this on vinyl cannot be cut from tape. Here's what I was told and I think this is good news:

"The sourcing for the vinyl was mastered digital files. This was necessary as this release was a compilation of masters from various album releases. The Sources for the creation of the files were the original analog masters, where the recordings were analog, and Digital masters, where the original recordings were digitally recorded. The remastering was done by Bob Ludwig at Gateway mastering, with some additional mastering done by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman mastering. Chris also did the disc cutting.

The vinyl is being pressed on 180g at GZ/Memphis."

Now here's the (modified) press release:

TO THE LIMIT: THE ESSENTIAL COLLECTION will be available on April 12 as a 3-CD set ($24.98), a deluxe 6-LP set on 180-gram vinyl ($149.98), and digitally. A limited edition, embossed lithograph will be available as a gift with purchase exclusively at Eagles.com. PRE-ORDER HERE

The band’s stirring live performance of “Take It To The Limit” from their legendary March 21, 1977 concert at the Capitol Centre in Largo, MD, is available to view on the Eagles’ official YouTube channel.

TO THE LIMIT thoughtfully curates 51 songs from the studio albums and live recordings the Eagles released between 1972 and 2020. All of the band’s best-known tracks are here, including the #1 hits “New Kid In Town,” “One Of These Nights,” “Best Of My Love,” “Hotel California,” and “Heartache Tonight.” The set also features plenty of fan favorites with songs like “Desperado,” “Victim Of Love,” and “In The City.”

Beyond the studio, TO THE LIMIT highlights the Eagles’ impressive touring legacy with more than a dozen electrifying live tracks. These feature selections from Eagles Live (1980) – including the Top 40 hit “Seven Bridges Road” – as well as songs from Hell Freezes Over (1994), The Millennium Concert (2000), Live At The Forum ’76 (2017), and Live From The Forum MMXVIII (2020).

The Eagles – Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – are currently on the road for the band’s final tour, aptly titled “The Long Goodbye,” with U.S. dates through March on sale now. The band will also head overseas starting May 31 for a residency at the new Co-Op Live in Manchester, the largest indoor arena in the UK. Due to overwhelming ticket demand, the tour is expected to extend into 2025.

With a remarkable 50-plus years of touring experience, the Eagles have performed over 1,000 concerts worldwide, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. The band’s tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar.

Formed in 1971, the Eagles pioneered a uniquely American musical style, blending elements of country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop. Since then, it has become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time. Despite today’s fractured rock ’n’ roll landscape, the Eagles retain a timeless appeal that transcends both generations and genres, solidifying the band’s status as a musical icon.

The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scoring six #1 albums and five chart-topping singles. They have earned six GRAMMY Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 stands as the best-selling album in history (certified 38-times platinum), while Hotel California ranks as the third best-selling U.S. album in history (certified 26-times platinum). Ah, now I see. This is your political bullshit bathsit crazy nationalist white guy stuff.

U2 is somehow holding you back from achieving your true greatness? I rarely see such palpable hate outside of the objectivist/subjectivist and digital/analog virtual fights to the death. Be mindful, using up your hate energy on U2 might leave you short on hate for Brandon and your associates will judge you.

This will help: Play some Ted Nugent or Kid Rock at full volume and appreciate the philosophical purity.

            ;-P
