Anthony Williams' Spring is a personal fave; that's how drums should sound on vinyl. I have the 1977 King Record Japanese pressing and the dynamic range is off the charts.

The news is exciting, but it's left me wondering what I bought in 2015 when I purchased Jimmy Smith's Midnight Special as part of Blue Note Records 75th Anniversary Vinyl Initiative. That re-issue was mastered by Bernie Grundman. Eight years later Midnight Special is coming our way yet again, but this time by Kevin Gray who mastered from original analog tapes. In 2015 I assumed the 75th Anniversary version I purchased new from Blue Note's online store was engineered from the analog master tapes. You mean it wasn't?

The same with Blowin' The Blues Away by Horace Silver, also mastered by BG for the 75th Anniversary Vinyl Initiative, also purchased direct from Blue Note.

Were these and the other 75th Anniversary Blue Notes not mastered from the original analog tapes?
